As a long time supporter of homebrew, I am a part of some local homebrew clubs and groups. These are great venue’s to get feedback on your homebrew, participate in judging competitions, and get new ideas. My favorite activity has to be the rare occasion we get to pour our homebrew for the public. I love the energy at these events. It is exciting to share your craft with those outside your circle of friends. Plus we all get to try beer we would never get at a brewery.
The Reno area currently has two of these events a year. The newest of these events, Son’s of Fermentation Homebrew Spectacular, is happening this Saturday! I have been pouring for Brandon in the past and I’m happy to say I will be pouring my own beer this weekend! I teamed up with a good friend of mine and we’ll be pouring two of our own creations instead of our husbands.
All the proceeds from ticket sales and silent auction items go straight to the Cystic Fibrous Foundation. Local brewers will be pouring their own creations and competing for bragging rights. We all have a chance at Brewer’s, Judge’s, and People’s Choice. The organizers put a lot of work into creating this event and do it all to raise the most money for the Foundation.
So, if you happen to like beer and will be in the Reno area Saturday, I highly recommend checking out SOF’s Homebrew Spectacular. The line up looks amazing and it supports a great cause. If you do stop by, check out R&R Brewing’s table (that’s me) and say hi. Our raspberry fig cream ale and vanilla wafer blonde are pretty tasty.
